This is our first blog post and we hope you will have fun exploring future posts as we look forward to have more correspondence with you through our blog post section and share our ideas, philosophy behind Chitrani’s work, and our story. In this manner hopefully it can be a great platform to exchange ideas in any form, which leads us closer to our mission, i.e. to leave a better world for our next generation. Today we will share how brand Chitrani happened; we hope that knowing a little bit about our story gives you insight to what we are about.

So, hello and welcome to Chitrani. My name is Ganga and I am the creative head at our family run business based in west of Thar Desert, Rajasthan. I was born in 80s and grown up in an era when shiny plastic toys and lego blocks were not available and we had handcrafted wooden toys and plenty of time for open play ? My parents always made sure that I along with my younger brother grew up playing with many different traditional wooden toys as she also has a love for all things handmade. 

Brand Chitrani was born when I was blessed with a baby girl in 2016. We wanted the best for our child- that included Toy’s which were safe to play with and non-toxic. Toys that we could bequeath to next children in the family after she no longer had use for it, or just keep it for our grandchildren. That became a kind of challenge finding all that we were looking for, we soon realised that  products offered  in  market were mass-produced, generic in appearance, made of cheap material. Before long, we could found our self designing the toys and furniture with the help of local craftsmen rather than buying it from market. . When it comes to our children, we don’t compromise with anything, that’s what we did; now our sole objective was to make all stuff handmade exclusively out of pure old world material. That was the time when we decided to take on this job for rest of the parents too and determined to create a line of heirloom wood toys that are elegant, indestructible, and simple. Toys powered solely by a child's imagination and look great in any room of the house when not in use. 

So here we are with a mission to create simple and eco-friendly heirloom products for the little ones, that pass from generation to generation and sits beautifully in the wall shelve in between.
